DyndnsD

Dynamic Dns Daemons

dyndnsd - the Dynamic Dns Daemon - was created because I realized that, while there are many dynamic DNS providers configurable on many consumer routers (I.e. the routers provided by the internet provider), None of the main DNS providers were This annoyed me as I wanted to run my own domain(s) off of my own equipment, without having to cough up for a business account in order t get a static IP address So I cooked this little utility up, right now it's monitoring the public IP address of the computer it's running on (it can actually be running on any machine behind the router now that I think of it), and, when that public IP changes? It reaches out to a DNS registry, and changes the A record for a domain so that the fqdn points to the new Ip address Great for people wanting to run a lab at home, who already have a valid domain name, and would rather use that that name.someddnssite.ish :P Anyway - more info on this utility later - or tomorrow, whichever is later :D ttfn -=A=- .
